《狗先生——一只自己照顾自己的狗》
从前，有一只有趣的狗，名叫狗狗的狗狗，他之所以叫这样一个名字，是因为——
他是他自己的狗。
早上，他自己个儿从床上爬起来，走到冰箱边上，给自己拿一点面包和牛奶，他是一只有趣的老狗，他很喜欢草莓的味道。
吃过饭，他会自己出去溜达一会儿，想去哪儿就去哪儿。
可有一天早上，他忽然不知道自己想去哪儿了。
“就这样走下去吧，早晚能走到一个什么地方的。”他自言自语。
没多久，他来到了一个处处是狗的地方，他们冲他汪汪叫，他也冲他们汪汪叫，后来他们就在一起玩了起来。
可他还是想去其他地方转转，所以他继续往前走，一直走到了一个处处是猫和兔子的地方。
猫和兔子们上蹿下跳，狗狗也跟着他们上蹿下跳。
他还没有抓住这些小家伙，就一头撞到了一个小孩身上。
“你是谁，谁照顾你？”小孩问。
“我是狗狗的狗狗，我自己照顾自己。”狗狗回答，“你又是什么动物？”
“我是个小孩，”小孩说，“我也是自己照顾自己。”
“我真高兴啊，”狗狗的狗狗说，“来，我们一起生活吧。”
他们就去了一个卖肉的店铺。“给我的小狗来一根骨头。”狗狗说。
当然，狗狗的狗狗是自己喂自己的，所以，他带着给自己的那根骨头，小跑着回家去了。
而那个小孩的小孩买了一大块羊排，还有一包绿油油的蔬菜，也小跑着和狗狗回家去了。
狗狗的狗狗住在一个两层小狗屋里，他有一个可爱的小房间，里面有个温暖的火炉，整个冬天都噼噼啪啪地燃烧着，到了夏天才熄灭。
他的屋子总是很暖和的，屋顶上还有一个让烟冒出去的烟囱。在楼上，有一个小房间，里面放着一张床，床边可以挂狗狗的项圈，床上有个枕头，下面藏着他的宝贝骨头。
在他的狗屋里，还有很多其他的房间，足够小孩和他住在一起了。

在两层狗屋的楼上，有一个小厨房，狗狗每天要在那里做三顿大餐给自己吃，因为他最喜欢吃大餐。他喜欢吃牛排、排骨、烤牛肉、肉末和生鸡蛋。
这天晚上，他做了一道骨头汤，放了很多肉末在里面，他也给小孩盛了一些汤，小孩很喜欢。小孩没有把自己的排骨给狗狗吃，不过他在狗狗的汤里放了一点自己买的绿色蔬菜。
狗狗是怎么吃晚饭的？
他放开肚子大吃了一通？
是的，一点没错。
他嚼啊，吞啊，一直吃到自己的肚子再也装不下。
小孩是怎么吃晚饭的？
他放开肚子大吃了一通？

狗狗的狗狗很守规矩，他喜欢每件事情都按部就班——
在晚饭时间吃晚饭，
在午饭时间吃午饭，
在早饭时间吃早饭，
在日出时间看日出，
在日落时间看日落，
在睡觉时间……
在睡觉之前，他要把每一样东西都放回原位——
杯子挨着碟子，
椅子靠着桌子，
星星紧贴着天空，
月亮也紧贴着天空，
他自己，就躺在他的小床上。
后来他怎么样了？
他把身子窝成暖暖和和的一小团，开始睡觉，他做了很多只有他自己知道的梦。
这就是自己照顾自己的狗狗的故事。
后来自己照顾自己的小孩怎么样了？
那个小孩，把身子窝成暖暖和和的一小团，开始睡觉，他做了很多只有他自己知道的梦。

The Dog Who Belonged To Himself

Once upon a time there was a funny dog named Crispin's Crispian. He was named Crispin's Crispian because --
he belonged to himself.
In the mornings, he wake himself up and he went to the icebox and gave himself some bread and milk. He was a funny old dog. He liked strawberries.
Then he took himself for a walk. And he went wherever he wanted to go.
But one morning he didn't know where he wanted to go.
“Just walk and sooner or later you'll get someshere,” he said to himself.
Soon he came to a country where there were lots of dogs. They barked at him and he barked back. Then they all played together.
But he still wanted to go somewhere, so he walked on until he came to a country where there were lots of cats and rabbits.
The cats and rabbits jumped in the air and ran. So Crispian jumped in the air and ran after them.
He didn't catch them because he ran bang into a little boy.
“Who are you and who do you belong to?” asked the little boy.
“I am Crispin's Crispian and I belong to myself,” said Crispian. “Who and what are you?”
“I am a boy,” said the boy, “and I belong to myself.”
“I am so glad,” said Crispin's Crispian. “Come and live with me.”
Then they went to a butcher shop -- “to get his poor dog a bone,” Crispian said.
Now, since Crispin's Crispian belonged to himself, he gave himself the bone and trotted home with it.
And the boy's little boy bought a big lamb chop and a bright green vegetable and trotted home with Crispin's Crispian.
Crispin's Crispian lived in a two-story doghouse in a garden. And in his two-story doghouse, he had a little fur living room with a warm fire that cracked all winter and went out in the summer.
His house was always warm. His house had a chimney for the smoke to go out. And upstairs there was a little bedroom with a bed in it and a place for his leash and a pillow under which he hid his bones.
And there was plenty of room in his house for the boy to live there with him.
Crispian had a litttle kitchen upstairs in his two-story doghouse where he fixed himself a good dinner three times a day because he liked to eat. He liked steaks and chops and roast beef and chopped meat and raw eggs.
This evening he made a bone soup with lots of meat in it. He gave some to the boy, and the boy liked it. The boy didn't give Crispian his chop bone, but he put some of his bright green vegetable in the soup.
And what did Crispian do with his dinner?
Did he put it in his stomach?
Yes, indeed.
He chewed it up and swallowed it into his little fat stomach.
And what did the little boy do with his dinner?
Did he put it in his stomach?
Yes, indeed.
He chewed it up and swallowed it into his little fat stomach.
Crispin's Crispian was a conservative. He liked everything at the right time--
dinner at dinnertime,
lunch at lunchtime,
breakfast in time for breakfast,
and sunsise at sunrise,
and sunset at sunset.
And at bedtime--
At Bedtime, he liked everything in its own place--
the cup in the saucer,
the chair under the table,
the stars in the heavens,
the moon in the sky,
and himself in his own little bed.
And then what did he do?
Then he curled in a warm little heap and went to sleep. And he dreamed his own dreams.
That was what the dog who belonged to himself did.
And what did the little boy who belonged to himself do?
The boy who belonged to himself curled in a warm little heap and went to sleep. And he dreamed his own dreams.
That was what the boy who belonged to himself did.
