Here’s a nice little story for good girls and boys, 一个小故事，讲给乖孩子：
All about Santa Claus, Christmas and toys… 圣诞老人、圣诞节和玩具……
THE top of the Earth, which is called the North Pole, 高高的北极点，地球最尽头，
Is where Santa Claus lives, a right jolly old soul! 那是圣诞老人的家，快活的好老头！
About him the snow lies so thick on the ground 小屋旁边，雪地千层厚；
That the sun cannot melt it the whole summer round. 夏日将尽，积雪依然如旧。
His twinkling eyes are so merry and bright, 明亮的眼神满是快活，
That they sparkle like two little stars in the night. 像两颗小星星在夜空闪烁，
He has rosy cheeks and the snowiest hair, 两颊红通通，白发如雪灿然，
Though the top of his head is quite shiny and bare. 头顶却光秃秃、亮闪闪。
And each Christmas Eve, from his toes to his chin, 圣诞前夜，圣诞老人裹得严严实实，
Santa’s bundled up tight so the cold can’t creep in. 从下巴颏到脚趾尖，寒冷无法侵袭，
His deer from the mountains are harnessed with care, 驯鹿从高山飞下，挽具齐齐整整，
As they anxiously prance in the clear, frosty air. 急切奔驰于空中，一片晴朗清冷。
Santa cracks his long whip and whistles a tune, 挥动长鞭，吹起口哨，

On a starry night in December, Santa’s trip begins. 在一个十二月的星夜，圣诞老人开始旅程。

The Reindeer’s Flight 飞翔的驯鹿
The reindeer take flight with lightning-fast speed. 以光速，驯鹿在空中奔驰，
In fact, they’re so fast, you’d swear they had wings! 看哪，一闪即过，如生双翼！
And these glorious reindeer can easily fly 再高的屋顶，也不能奈何
To the top of a roof, no matter how high. 俊美的驯鹿一跃即至。
Then, down, down the chimney Santa descends, 啊，顺着烟囱下降，只在
With a snap of his fingers, a wink and a grin. 一弹指，一眨眼，一咧嘴之间。
He has to be quick, to be through in a night. 快快的呀，只有这一夜，
His gifts must arrive before first-morning light! 第一缕晨光之前，礼物就要送到。
So he fills up the stockings with trinkets and toys, 一点儿声响也无，

A Wondrous Christmas Eve 美妙的圣诞前夜

So there’s no use in spoiling a long winter’s nap 只是，乐呵呵的老人，不习惯张扬，
Attempting a peek at this jolly old chap. 总在暗夜，做着好事一桩桩。
No, when Christmas Eve comes you must slip into bed, 所以，要乖乖的，在圣诞前夜，
Pull up the covers and lay down your head. 爬上床，盖好被，早早进入梦乡。
Then Santa arrives with his magical pack – 圣诞老人会准时到来，背着魔袋，
A bag full of playthings slung over his back! 各种各样的小玩艺，满满一袋。
He gives to young children who lives everywhere, 所有孩子，不论贫富。
And the rich and the poor are alike in his care, 在他眼里，全无差别，
So great is his love for all girls and boys, 他的爱是如此深沉，
That making them happy is what he enjoys. 孩子快乐，他就快乐。

It’s certain that Santa will somehow appear! 圣诞老人也会如约到来！

Pulling out toys and then searching for more. 掏出玩具，又继续摸索，
His cheeks are flushed pink and his eyes starry bright – 脸颊红润，眼睛如星般璀璨，

GOOD Santa Claus sometimes, in making his rounds, 挨家挨户送礼物，是那好心的圣诞老人。

And if he suspects that the laughter and noise 跳呀，笑啊，唱啊，闹啊，那可是
Proceeds from a group of young ladies and boys… 无忧无虑的姑娘和小伙？
Curiosity, likely, will tempt him to creep 带着好奇，轻手轻脚，
To some little window through which he can peek. 从小小的窗口向里瞅。
And there, for a while, he will longingly gaze 孩子们，尽情舞蹈做游戏，
