请教这里的High School是“高中”的意思吗？

美国的high school跟中国的中学意思差不多，初中是junior high，高中是senior high，不过，不同的地区公立学校的概念也不一样，比如有的地方小学7年制，所以中学一入学就是8年级，总体来说中学都是7年级或8年级(就是中国的初一初二)。私立学校就更是五花八门了。这个小说里的当然是公立中学。
