María Teresa Andruetto

Over the last 27 years María Teresa Andruetto has been one of the co-founders of CEDILIJ (Children’s and Youth Literature Publication and Research Centre), publishing secretary to Piedra Libre magazine and member of the advising council of PROPALE (Reading Programme/National University of Córdoba). She has participated in many reading programmes in Argentina, and has worked as a member of training teams for teachers at all levels in creative reading and writing. She has helped children, teenagers and young adults in social-risk situations learn about the writing process within official programmes, private institutions, as well as inside and outside schools. She has also been a teacher at secondary and tertiary school and worked many years training teachers.
She is a well-known poet writing for adults. Her novels are for adults as well as for young people and they tell us about migration, our roots, inner worlds, injustice, love, crisis, poverty, solidarity, violence and political affairs.
Among other awards, she has received the V Iberoamericano SM de Literatura Infantil y Juvenilin 2009.
Peter Sís

Peter Sís is an internationally acclaimed author, illustrator, filmmaker, and painter. He studied painting and filmmaking at the Academy of Applied Arts in Prague and the Royal College of Art in London. His film work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Modern Art, New York.
Sís’ work includes 26 animated films and shorts, more than 60 books, poster designs, book and CD covers, stage designs, murals, and three-dimensional objects. He has illustrated books for other authors and has contributed approximately one thousand drawings to The New York Times Book Review. In his artwork he uses different techniques such as oil paints, watercolours, pen-and-ink drawing, collage, crosshatching, pointillism and stippling.
His books have been published in 30 countries and translated into 20 languages, and his pictures have been exhibited all around the world in both group and one-man shows. Among many other distinctions, he has won seven times the New York Times Best Illustrated Book of the Year Award and three times the Caldecott Honour.
